Sunday, 5/22/1005 – In a moment of weakness (it was the 100 degree heat and free use of the pool that put me over the edge) we signed up for a time share sales pitch at Los Abrigados, right next to Tlaquepaque. We took the freebies and left town:

Stopped briefly in Jerome, AZ, an old mining town built on the side of a mountain:

One of the guide books recommendended a gravel road out of Jerome that went high into the mountains. We tried it for about about 10 miles but it got too scary...narrow, blind turns, drop offs, and we weren't sure we were on the right road. This was the wide part of the road:

So we turned around (not easy). Then continued on 89A to Prescott. This is one of the all time great roads and I had a pretty clear run. Rest of the day was driving through some pretty bleak terrain. Arrived at Holiday Inn Express in Las Vegas near dark and took the shuttle to the Bellagio:
