Thursday, Sep 6, 2012 - Now fully awake, we went back into Cobh to explore. First we visited the impressive cathedral, St. Coleman's.
Modern technology - electric votive candles:
While there, we saw an unfortunate incident when an elderly tourist tripped and fell head first into the door. After we helped him up, it appeared that he was ok. Cobh was an attractive small town with some unique streets:
Our Nissan Micra in front of the cathedral, homely, but the perfect size for these roads. Actually a motorcycle is the perfect size for these roads:
After we walked around Cobh, we drove back to Lismore. We had lunch at a cafe called the Summerhouse. Laura bought a jar of honey that came from a local farmer.
We then toured the gardens of the Lismore Castle. Unfortunately the castle itself is a private residence, not open to the public.
Back at the B&B, we met a couple from Virgina named Ernie and Marge, traveling with two other women to whom we weren't introduced.
We went back to the Tradewinds in Cobh for dinner before our second night at the Knockeven House.
